Where:  Deer Creek Park in Maplewood, MO.  10 minutes West of Downtown St. Louis.  The competition will be held on the soccer field behind the large picnic pavilion.  Easy to find and hard to miss.  There are two parking lots for this field and more overflow parking across the street.  View on Google Maps3233 Laclede Station Road, Maplewood, MO 63143

When:  Sunday May 22rd, 2011.  Start time for the Competition is at 11 PM CDT.  Competitors should arrive by 10 AM to register for the divisions they wish to compete in.  An on-line Pre-Registration Form is available at the bottom of this page, but all competitors must still check in and pay entry fees before the start of the competition.

Why:  Because it is fun.  The Disc Dog Sport doesn't require a lot of money, it excersizes your dog while you play; did I mention fun?  St. Louis Disc Dogs encourage first time competitors to come out, we all started that way.  Come and play with us, join our club for its benefits but only if you want to, no pressure and no prejudice here.

This Competition is a recognized UFO Local Championship, where points can be earned for the annual UFO World Cup disc dog Championship.  Rules for the St. Louis Disc Dogs Spring Friendly, Click Here.

Divisions offered:

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division and Champion and Runner-up for Pro Overall Score.  Other prizes provided by our awesome sponsors will be awarded also.

All Divisions will get two rounds, unless the competition host runs short on time due to bad weather, field availability, or daylight.  A cut to the top teams in each division for the second round may be required.

 Novice Throw and Catch
This is the standard 60 second timed game of throwing and having your dog catch a flying disc onto a lined field with scoring zones that are worth more the farther they are away from the throwing line.  Any dog safe flying disc is permitted including rubber and cloth discs.  There are other provisions in the Novice Throw and Catch Rules that allow training aids to be used, but NO food or treats on the competition field.  This division is designed to encourage beginners to get started in the sport.  Here is an example of a great Novice Throw and catch round, notice he uses a toy to get the disc back from the dog at this UFO Local competition in Nevada.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niEE-N7Ic00  Rules

 Pro Throw and Catch
This is the same 60 second game but for handlers and dogs that are proficient and/or experienced with this game.  As a handler; if you compete in this division you may not compete in Novice Throw and Catch with any other dog.  Here is an example of a UFO World Cup Finals Throw and Catch round, in Texas last year.  Notice the Dutchman is throwing long down the field in hopes to land his dog's catches in the higher point zones.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrSt0ufbWNA  Rules

 Novice Freestyle
Freestyle allows you to have multiple discs and free run of the field for 90 seconds to execute throw and catches, tricks involving the discs, in a routine that is entertaining.  You may bring music on a CD to be played while you play with your dog.  You will be judged and scored on your variety of throws and tricks, and also on your overall success.  Here is an example an excellent Novice Freestyle routine at an Ohio UFO Local competition.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dv5j6X-eRGE   You don't need to be as proficient or do the same throws and tricks as this video demonstrates, you are free to play to you and your dog's strengths and abilities; It's FREEstyle.  See the Rules for Freestyle.

 Pro Freestyle
This is the same Freestyle game for proficient and/or experienced handlers with this game.  You will have 120 seconds for your routine.  As a handler; if you enter this division you are not allowed to enter Novice Freestyle or Novice Throw and Catch with any other dog.  Here is an example of a great Pro Freestyle routine at last years UFO World Cup Finals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsp6dIZddYU&feature=related .  Rules

UFO Local Points
